Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players in the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
