No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
