Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
